LibreOffice
FreeA free, open source office suite with word processor, spreadsheet, presentation, drawing and database tools.
About LibreOffice
LibreOffice is a free and open source office suite. It includes Writer for documents, Calc for spreadsheets, Impress for presentations, Draw for diagrams, Base for databases and Math for formulas. It is a successor to OpenOffice.org.
It opens and saves many formats, including Microsoft Office files, and uses the OpenDocument format natively. This makes it a common replacement for paid suites on personal and business computers. Windows, macOS and Linux versions are available from the official site.
There is no licence fee, no account and no subscription, and the code is published under the MPL-2.0 licence listed in the Windows package. It suits individuals, schools and organisations that want a capable offline suite without ongoing costs. The interface looks more traditional than Microsoft 365, and complex Office documents can occasionally render differently, so test important files. The suite is developed by The Document Foundation with community and company contributors. Downloads linked here come from the official project, which also publishes documentation and community support for new users switching from other suites.
Check complex Word or Excel files with macros or heavy formatting before switching completely.
