Steam
FreeValve's game store, library and community platform for PC, with companion mobile apps.
About Steam
Steam is a digital store and game library from Valve. You buy, download and launch games through the client, which also handles updates, friends lists, chat, community pages and cloud saves for supported games.
The desktop client runs on Windows, macOS and Linux. The mobile app on Android and iOS offers store browsing, Steam Guard authentication, chat and notifications. It is a companion to the desktop client and does not play PC games itself.
Steam suits PC gamers and anyone who wants one place for their game purchases, with features such as workshop content, reviews and remote play for supported titles. The client is free to install and an account is required. Games and add-ons are sold individually, and many are free to play.
Store ratings for the mobile apps are lower than for the desktop service, with Google Play at 3.1 and the iOS app at about 2.7. New users should take a moment to review privacy and family settings, and to set up Steam Guard, since the account holds purchases that can represent significant value.
Turn on Steam Guard for account security. The mobile apps do not run PC games.
