Google Maps
FreeGoogle's mapping and navigation app with live traffic, public transport, walking and cycling directions and place information.
About Google Maps
Google Maps is a mapping service covering driving, public transport, walking and cycling routes. Its listing highlights live traffic data and real-time GPS navigation, along with information about places such as opening hours, photos and reviews.
The app can save places to lists, share your location, show satellite and terrain views, and download areas for use without a connection. Transit directions show departure times in supported cities, and Street View gives ground-level imagery. Integration with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay lets it run on a car display.
It suits almost anyone who travels, from daily commuters to visitors in unfamiliar cities. The app is free to use. The Google Play listing declares ads, which appear as promoted places in search results. Many features work best when signed in to a Google account and with location sharing turned on, so review the privacy settings if that concerns you. Coverage and detail vary from region to region.
The most complete all-round choice for most people. If you want less tracking, look at an open-data alternative such as Organic Maps or OsmAnd.
