Battle.net
FreeThe launcher and social hub for Blizzard games, with a companion mobile app for friends, chat and account security.
About Battle.net
Battle.net is Blizzard Entertainment's game launcher and online service. On Windows and Mac it installs, updates and starts Blizzard titles, keeps your game library in one place, and handles purchases through its shop and your Blizzard account.
The mobile app is a companion rather than a game player. It lets you see what friends are playing, chat with them, read patch notes, browse the shop and open support tickets. It also works as the Battle.net Authenticator, so you can approve or decline login attempts with a tap, which is the main reason many players install it.
The launcher itself is free; you pay only for the games and in-game content you buy. It suits anyone who plays Blizzard games on PC, and the phone app is worth having for account protection. The mobile app needs an internet connection to work. Note that the Google Play listing carries a noticeably lower rating than the App Store one, so expect some rough edges on Android.
The desktop launcher is required for installing games, while the phone app only complements it. Attach the Authenticator to your account even if you rarely use the app.
