About WinSCP
WinSCP is a file transfer client for Windows that supports SFTP, SCP, S3 and FTP. It presents local and remote folders side by side so files can be moved by drag and drop, or opened and edited directly on the server.
It includes a built-in text editor, synchronisation of directories, saved sites and a command-line interface for scripting and scheduled transfers, which makes it useful for both occasional use and automation. The SSH tools PuTTYgen and Pageant are bundled for key handling, and recent releases have upgraded them to PuTTY 0.85.
WinSCP suits web developers, administrators and anyone who regularly moves files to servers or cloud storage. It is released under the GPL and is free to use.
The official download is for Windows only. People on other systems will need a different client. It installs as a standard program or runs as a portable build, which is convenient when you need to move files from a shared or temporary Windows machine without changing it.
