Highly customisable Chromium browser with built-in mail, calendar, feed reader and tab management.

About Vivaldi

Vivaldi is a Chromium-based browser from Vivaldi Technologies, a company founded by Jon von Tetzchner, a co-founder of Opera. It runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS, and supports Chrome extensions.

Its focus is on customisation. Tabs can be stacked, tiled or placed on any edge of the window, and the interface, toolbars, shortcuts and mouse gestures can be adjusted in great detail. Built-in tools include a mail client, calendar, feed reader, notes, a translation function and a command bar for quick actions. A tracker and ad blocker are included, and recent releases added a local calculator in the address bar.

Vivaldi suits power users who work with many tabs and want to shape the browser to their habits. It is free to use and does not track browsing activity, according to its own description. Its interface code is proprietary, while the underlying Chromium code is open. New users may find the number of settings overwhelming at first, and the desktop app has a larger footprint than minimal browsers.
