Everything
FreeA very fast file and folder search tool for Windows that finds items by name almost instantly.
About Everything
Everything is a search utility for Windows that locates files and folders by name. Rather than scanning drives each time you search, it builds an index of file names on NTFS volumes and then updates it as files change, so results appear as you type.
It supports wildcards, regular expressions, filters and search by size or date, and it can be used from a command-line interface and through an HTTP or FTP server option. A small footprint and quick indexing are its main selling points.
Everything suits anyone who has struggled with the built-in Windows search and wants to find a file straight away, from office users to developers and administrators. It searches names and paths rather than file contents by default.
The application is free to use and the winget manifest lists an MIT licence. The latest manifest release notes mention a fix for a security issue with launching files ending with a dot and an MSI installer fix.
Fast enough to replace the Windows search box for file names. Run it with the service option if you want indexing without elevated privileges each time.
