Arc
FreeDesign-forward Chromium browser with a sidebar, Spaces, Split View and profiles, from The Browser Company.
About Arc
Arc is a Chromium-based browser from The Browser Company of New York. It replaces the usual top tab bar with a sidebar, organises tabs into Spaces and profiles, and offers Split View for working with two pages side by side. It is available for Windows and macOS, and an iOS app called Arc Search is listed on the App Store.
Custom themes, a command bar and pinned tabs aim to make the browser feel more like a workspace than a list of windows. It supports Chrome extensions because it uses Chromium. Arc is free to use with an account.
It suits people who work with many tabs and want a different layout than conventional browsers. Note that the iOS app is Arc Search, a separate search-focused app and not the full desktop browser, and it is listed in only one language on the App Store. The company has publicly shifted its focus to a newer browser, so Arc is receiving mainly security and Chromium updates, as the latest Windows release notes show. Anyone planning long-term use should weigh that.
Windows updates are mostly Chromium security bumps. Treat Arc as stable but not actively expanded, and check its release notes before committing.
